VOLUNTEER HIKERS - FAQ

HOW TO BE A PART OF THIS

"AGE DISRUPTING ADVENTURE"

HOW TO SELECT A SECTION OF TRAIL

The first step to being a part of this adventure, whether you want to “Hike with Mike” on the Triple Crown Challenge or help  support the mission’s logistics and supply efforts, you must fill out the GCHH volunteer application below. This application is required for all individuals who wish to be affiliated with our 501(c)3 non-profit. Many of the questions on this application may seem inapplicable to participation in the hike, but our application is used for all of our many community betterment projects.

After your volunteer application is submitted GCHH staff will review it and reach out to you to set up a telephonic interview. That will be the time for you to describe how you wish to be involved in this project. Once we reach an understanding and agree on the terms of your participation you will be asked to fill out a Cooperation Agreement and a Release of Liability Waiver. These forms will be customized to reflect each volunteers specific involvement in the project and will be delivered and signed via RocketLawyer.com

HOW TO SELECT A SECTION OF TRAIL

Please be as specific as possible with regards to a start and finish date.

It is important for us to know exactly where you are able to participate.

The success of the Triple Crown Challenge lies in completing all three trails in 365 days. The finish line and deadline for completion is Feb. 5 2020. Even if you can only hike a few days at this pace, your participation is welcome and appreciated. If not, we really need your help with hiker support duty. Hiker support duty involves hiking in to meet our hikers from the support vehicles to the actual trails using access points which are typically feeder trails intersecting with roads along the trails. We will be doing re-supply and other support services off-trail using this method. We do not interfere with the peace and serenity of other hikers on the main trails. Our hikers are essentially unsupported during their hiking experience and must come off trail to meet GCHH personaell to re-supply or recieve other assistance. This makes the hiking experience more genuine and no different than any other hiker’s journey. All hikers must leave the main trails at different points in time if they wish to pick up supplies, have “zero-days”, receive medical assistance, or see friends and family.

If you have any other questions about volunteering we will arrange telephonic conferences and emails after a volunteer application is submitted and approved. Simply filling out our volunteer application does not obligate anybody to do anything. It’s just our way to get to know you a little better before opening a dialogue.
